STRAIT TO THE STORM
In a major development for our senior Women, as they prepare to make their debut in Championship in Big V 2024, the Storm are thrilled to announce the signing of Courtney Strait.
The former Craigieburn import has agreed to join the Storm for the coming season, in what is seen as a major signing for the Club.
Strait, a 180cm Forward, comes to the Storm after a very impressive season with Craigieburn in 2023, where she ended up 3rd overall for the season in scoring, averaging 19.39 points per game at 43% shooting and 10.1 rebounds per game, 6th in Division 1 Women.
Hailing from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Courtney had played in Germany, Ireland, Croatia and England after playing for NCAA 2 Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri between 2012 and 2016.
Championship Women’s Coach Tim Sanderson said of the signing “Courtney is an exceptional two way player who can score on multiple levels, play makes well for teammates, contributes on the boards and is a solid defender”.
Sanderson noted that Courtney “dominated division 1 last season and having played against her we found her to be an incredibly tough cover that we believed would be a great add to our team for the upcoming season. Courtney is a fantastic person that I’m sure is going to have a great impact on our club and not just our women’s team”.
