Velasquez joins the Storm

VELASQUEZ JOINS THE STORM

After one season with the Geelong Supercats, Import Nick Velasquez has moved to the Bellarine Storm for the 2024 Big V Championship Men’s season.

In a consistent season for the Supercats, Velasquez posted double figure points on 9 occasions throughout the 2023 NBL1 season, with a high score of 23 points against North West Tasmania, showing his abilities both as a distributor of the ball and a dangerous outside option, shooting at 38% from downtown for the season.

Born in Honolulu, the 190cm Guard played for Union College, Jackson, Tennessee before heading to Armenia in 2022/23 prior to joining the Supercats.

On the signing of Velasquez, Bellarine Storm General manager Aaron Lothian says “Having another NBL1 quality player is great for our Club and our Association as we push to be a contender in 2024”.

Velasquez says of his signing “My expectation is to compete every night and ultimately win a championship. I feel like we added some great pieces to the puzzle and I’m excited to be on board.

Big thank you to the storm staff for trusting me and bringing me to the Club”.

The Bellarine Storm are excited by what Nick will bring to the side both on and off court and we can’t wait to see you early in the new year.

We’re sure you’ll join us in welcoming Nick to the Bellarine Storm Family.
