Weekend Wrap Round 13

Division 1 Men

Bellarine Storm 100 defeated Coburg 91

After a tough tussle for three quarters, our Division 1 Men turned up the heat up in the last term to come away with their seventh win on the spin with a 9 point win against Coburg.

Max Kos excelled again with 26 points (@62%) for the night, with good support from Nathan Gronbeck with 19 points, continuing his excellent season’s work, whilst Lewie Varley fell just one assist short of a triple double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists.

The win further shores up the Storm’s place in the top half of the ladder heading into the last stage of the season, with a vital home game against top of the ladder Melbourne Uni on Saturday night.

Youth League Women

Bellarine Storm 87 defeated Mornington 54

Following a rare defeat last week, our Youth League Women bounced back into the winners column, recording a 33 point thumping of Mornington.

After a pretty even first half, the Storm lifted another gear in the second half, with a 50 to 27 point domination of their rivals cruising to win number 13 for the season.

Alannah Northam led the way with 21 points and 10 boards for the day, whilst Sienna Quinlan also stepped up with 18 points and 11 off the glass.

Youth League Men

Bellarine Storm 75 lost to Chelsea 87

A second quarter lapse ended up costing our Youth League Men the chance of the win against Chelsea on Saturday night. The gulls put on 29 to 15 for the term to set up a handy break at the half.

Despite their hard work, the Storm couldn’t get the lead back past 9 points at any stage through the second half, as the home side hung onto the lead and managing to find a scoring option whenever Bellarine looked like they were making a charge.

Ethan McDonald was the leading scorer on the night for the Storm with 19 points, Vincent Whelan finished on 18 and Ryan Robinson was again in the points with 16, whilst Jarvis Gleeson collected a double double with 11 points and 13 boards.
