BPBA Leadership Transition: Aaron Lothian Departs, Nick Stamatopoulos Appointed as General Manager
It is with sadness that the Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association (BPBA)
announces that current General Manager Aaron Lothian will step down from the role.
Lothian has guided the Association across the last seven years, through a period of
growth and development both on and off court, in terms of participation numbers and
financial stability.
BPBA President Gary Thompson says of Lothian’s contribution to the Association that
“Aaron has provided excellent vision, strong management and leadership qualities. The
Association has received a number of awards during Aaron’s time as the General
manager and these are a testament to both Aaron and his team’s high level of
commitment and professionalism. On behalf of the Association, we wish Aaron all the
best for his future endeavours and thank him for his contribution over the last seven
years”.
Lothian hands the reins to Operations Manager Nick Stamatopoulos, who has been
appointed to the General Manager position by the BPBA Board this week.
Stamatopoulos acknowledged Lothian’s impact, saying, “Aaron has played a vital role in
shaping the direction and success of our Association. His leadership, dedication, and
commitment to the growth of the sport have left a lasting legacy, and I’m incredibly
grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside him.”
He added, “I’m excited to take on the role of General Manager and build on the strong
foundation that Aaron has laid. I look forward to continuing the growth of the Association
and helping basketball thrive across the Bellarine Peninsula.”
In other news for the Association, long serving Committee member and former
President and Vice President Tony Kane has announced that he won’t be seeking
re-election at the coming AGM.
Tony has been a pillar of strength for the Association over a number of years and is also
a Life Member of the Association. We acknowledge the wonderful service that Tony has
given to our Association over a number of years and wish him well for the future.
