Big V Weekend Wrap Round 15

Division 1 Women

Bellarine Storm 67 lost to Mildura 94

A disappointing loss for our Division 1 Women, going down to Mildura in Mildura on Saturday night by 27 points.

A 39 point return from the Heat’s Fanni Szabo was instrumental in their win. The Storm went into the contest with just 7 players on the night, making it a tough ask to come away with the win.

Lucy Howard top scored for the Storm with 14 points, whilst Charlotte Armstrong and Olivia Virt in her 50th Storm game both contributed 12 each.

Division 1 Men

Bellarine Storm 83 lost to Keysborough 120

In a bad night for our Division 1 teams, our Men were on the end of a working over by second placed Keysborough to the tune of 37 points at Storm HQ.

The visitors were in control for the whole contest, not allowing the Storm to get the game on our terms at any stage of the night.

Leigh Saffin was the leading scorer for the Storm with 19, the bulk of those coming in the last quarter, whilst Jason Reardon (15) and Nathan Gronbeck (10) were the only other double figure contributors in a night best forgotten.

Youth League Women

Bellarine Storm 72 defeated Albury/Wodonga 27

Comprehensive is the best word to describe the performance of our Youth League Women on Sunday as they dismantled Albury/Wodonga by 45 points at Storm HQ.

The Storm’s twin towers of Carly Sanders and Ash Withers proved too good for the visitors, contributing 22 and 11 points respectively, with Sanders dragging down 18 boards and Withers grabbing 17.

Sienna Quinlan was also instrumental in the win with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the day.

The win locks up a finals spot for our Youth League Women in their inaugural season in Big V.

Youth League Men

Bellarine Storm 113 defeated Mornington 75

In an outstanding double header for our Youth League Teams at Storm HQ, our Men recorded their own big victory by 38 points over Mornington.

Ryan Robinson starred again for the Storm, with 28 points and an impressive 8 assists for the match, while the ‘dynamic duo’ of Ethan Squared (Nicholls & McDonald) proved a damaging double team. Ethan McDonald finished with 20 points and 12 boards, whilst Ethan Nicholls had 19 points.

Nick Hough also had a real purple patch with 13 points for the afternoon to be among the key players in the win.
