Weekend Wrap Round 10

Division 1 Men

Bellarine Storm 101 defeated Southern Peninsula 94

A massive shooting performance from our Division 1 Men, saw them break the 100 point barrier for the first time this year against Southern Peninsula on Sunday.

After being jumped by the Sharks in the opening term, it was pretty much all Storm from there on, to record their third win in succession.

Led by Max Kos, who had a case of leather poisoning after amassing 32 points for the day, he was very ably supported by Lewie Varley with 28 and Leigh Saffin with 21, the Sharks had no answer to the Storm’s offensive power.

Marko Vekic played important minutes in the absence of Jason Reardon, hitting the glass for 10 boards for the day, whilst Lewie Varley picked up 12 boards himself.

Youth League Men

Saturday Bellarine Storm 98 defeated Mornington 74

Sunday Bellarine Storm 73 lost to Albury/Wodonga 92

It was a mixed bag for our Youth League Men on the weekend as they split their weekend results.

On the road on Saturday, after a tight opening quarter, the Storm finished up with a comfortable 24 point victory against Mornington.

Max Maciejewski was the leader for the Storm with 20 points and 8 boards for the night, ably assisted by Ryan Robinson with 18 and Jarvis Gleeson with 13 points and 11 boards.

Unfortunately, on Sunday, the Storm faced off with the top side from the Terrill Conference in Albury/Wodonga and just couldn’t come out with another win.

Giving the visitors an 18 point head start by half time, it was always going to be a tough ask for the Storm to get back into the contest against an impressive opponent.

Ryan Robinson featured in the better players again, with 14 points for the match, with 13 points from Ethan McDonald whilst Vincent Whelan chipped in with 12 points and 12 boards for the game.

Youth League Women

Bellarine Storm 68 defeated Western Port 46

The Youth League Women’s wagon train keeps on moving, with another comfortable win on Saturday night, by 22 points.

However the victory was soured with an injury to Gemma Morison in the opening minutes of the game, forcing her out of action for the rest of the night.

The Storm were in control though, for the majority of the game, just slightly taking their foot off the pedal in the last term, however, the contest was pretty much done by that time.

Ash Withers led the way with 16 points and 9 rebounds, Lucy Howard had 14 points and 7 boards, with Alannah Northam picking up 11 points and a very impressive 17 rebounds for the night, 12 of those at the defensive end of the court.
