The Bellarine Storm State Championship Women have signed 5’10” wing, Shayla Golden, for the 2026 Big V season. Golden is just finishing a stint in Jordan’s Women’s Premier League before making her way down to the Peninsula during preseason. Golden had a standout career at the University of West Alabama where she was able to stretch the floor and attack the glass. Following the completion of her senior season, Shayla averaged 9.5 points and 6.1 boards per game in her career for the Tigers. We are excited to bring Shayla’s athleticism, versatility, and rebounding prowess to the Storm this season.

Here’s what State Champ Women Head Coach, Dave Smith, has to say about our new addition: “Shayla adds an important new dimension to our group this season. She’s a two-way player who competes defensively, rebounds at a high level, and gives us versatility on offense. Her ability to score both from the perimeter and in the paint makes her a touch matchup and a valuable addition to our team.”

Shayla’s statement also reflects on her excitement to join the Storm: “I’m thrilled to announce my decision to sign with the Bellarine Storm. This new journey is about working hard, learning through the process and contributing to this team’s success. Let’s go!”

Welcome to Bellarine, Shayla!
