Them there Finals are almost upon us and Stormy is getting pumped for the post-season action. Still 3 rounds to go and as we know, it’s a funny game basketball!
Division 1 Women
Saturday 16th July 2022 v Western Port 5:30pm @ Bellarine Secondary College
The first of three successive home games to finish the regular season and Stormy reckons our Division 1 Women deserve it after a number of games on the road, so much so, that we were thinking of getting Channel 9 and “Postcards” to sponsor the team as they’ve seen plenty of Victoria this season.
On Saturday night, we host the Steelers and will be looking for the points here, to improve our win/loss a bit further.
Congratulations to Olivia Virt who stepped out for her 50th game last week in Mildura, our first Women’s player to achieve that feat. We’re hoping that game 51 will be a better result this week!
Division 1 Men
Saturday 16 July 2022 v Southern Peninsula 7:30pm @ Bellarine Secondary College
Our Division 1 Men copped one right between the eyes last week against second placed Keysborough last week and whilst it seems unlikely that we’ll miss finals, our final position on the ladder could be crucial, making this an important game for the Storm to get the ‘W’.
Southern Pen will be no walkover though, as they are one of the teams still fighting to score a spot in the finals and they need to keep winning to achieve that, so they will certainly be as hungry as Storm Boy at a buffet lunch!
If the Storm is able to recapture the form that saw us win 7 on the trot, then the Sharks will certainly have their hands full at Storm HQ in this one.
As sure as Stormy going back for more than one serve at the buffet, he’s sure the Storm will get the chocolate (mousse) in this one.
Youth League Women
Sunday 17thh July v Mornington 12:00pm @ Bellarine Secondary College
The mission is simple for our Youth League Women….keep on winning and retain top spot heading into the playoffs.
That mission starts on Sunday as we host Mornington at Storm HQ.
Coburg and Wallan are lurking in the shadows, hoping for a chance to steal the top spot off us.
However, Stormy says that this Storm team is playing great team orientated basketball, playing for each other and thats a hard thing to stop.
Like a number of the games this weekend, our opponents are still on the hunt for a spot in the post-season, so will be turning up with hopes of causing a boilover. Not for Stormy. Bellarine for mine in this one.
Youth League Men
Saturday 16th July 2022 v Keysborough 6:00pm Rowville Secondary College
Sunday 17th July 2022 v Southern Peninsula 2:00pm @ Bellarine Secondary College
A double header faces our Youth League Men this weekend, on the road to Keysborough on Saturday night, before hosting Southern Peninsula on Sunday.
The Storm only need to win one of the two games to wrap up a finals spot, so it’s a big weekend for Leigh Dawson and his charges.
Stormy has been pretty impressed with how the Youth League Men have been travelling in recent weeks, with their key players playing well and everybody performing their roles within the team.
If we can’t knock off Keysey at their place on Saturday, then Sunday’s game against Southern Pen becomes a must win to try and keep third spot heading into the Finals.
Well, thast’s all for this week. All that talk about buffet’s has made me hungry!
STORM BOY………OUT!!!!
