Thank You, Ray Borner!
Continuing with Storm in an advisory role.
The Bellarine Storm would like to thank Ray Borner for his outstanding contribution as Head Coach of our Senior Men’s team during the 2025 season. Ray stepped into the role last year and brought invaluable leadership, experience, and passion to the group, guiding our players through an important period for the program.
After careful reflection, Ray has decided not to return as Head Coach in 2026. While he loved being on the sidelines on gameday, Ray felt that the significant commitment required to prepare a team week-to-week was more than he could give at this stage.
Ray shared the following message with the club and community:
“I would like to say thanks to the Bellarine Community for letting me coach their men’s Championship Team over the remainder of the last season. It was a great opportunity to help an up and coming association and a great group of men. Whilst the challenges were high, I thought that as a group we showed glimpses of what we could achieve.
The program needs a fully committed Coach to lead the Team and with my business and pending overseas trip next year I’m unable to give that commitment.
I wish the playing group and new Head Coach the best of success next year.”
Importantly, this is not a parting of ways. Ray will remain an integral part of the Bellarine Storm family in an advisory capacity, supporting our senior program and mentoring our coaches and athletes. His knowledge of the game and commitment to the growth of basketball in our region is something we are fortunate to have within our club.
The search for our next Senior Men’s Head Coach is now underway, and our focus is on ensuring the program is well placed to succeed in the seasons ahead.
We thank Ray for his dedication to the team and look forward to his continued involvement in a role that best suits his passion and experience.
